Blog Images

Wallpaper has become one of the easiest ways to transform a home, adding personality, warmth, and character without the need for a major renovation. Whether you're refreshing a cosy HDB flat, styling a modern condominium, or giving a landed home a fresh new look, the right wallpaper can completely change the feel of a space.

In this guide, we'll walk you through everything you need to know about choosing wallpaper in Singapore. From popular rooms, colours and design styles to selecting the right material for Singapore's warm and humid climate, you'll discover practical tips to help you create a home you'll love coming back to every day. We'll also share some of our favourite wallpaper designs to inspire your next project and make choosing the perfect wallpaper a little easier.

Which Rooms or Areas Are Most Popular for Wallpaper in Singapore Homes?

Popular places for wallpaper in Singapore homes include living rooms, bedrooms, nurseries, bomb shelters and TV feature walls. Wallpaper is especially useful in compact HDB flats and condominiums because it can define an area, conceal an awkward surface or introduce a focal point without taking up additional floor space.

Living Room

The living room is often the main shared space in a home, making it a natural location for a wallpaper feature wall. A mural can establish a focal point behind a sofa, while a textured neutral or repeating pattern can provide a quieter backdrop across a larger area. In compact HDB or condominium living rooms, wallpaper adds depth and character without requiring additional furniture or decorative objects.

Bedroom

Wallpaper can make a bedroom feel warmer, calmer and more personal. A mural behind the bed can function as a large-scale visual headboard, while botanical prints, soft gradients and muted patterns can create a restful atmosphere. In smaller bedrooms, lighter colours and less densely patterned designs can help maintain an open and balanced appearance.

Kid's Bedroom

Wallpaper is a popular choice for children's bedrooms because it adds personality while creating a space that can grow with your child. Whether you're decorating a shared bedroom, updating an HDB children's room or creating a themed space, wallpaper can define the room without relying on lots of decorative accessories. Stripes, playful patterns and nature-inspired designs work particularly well as they remain suitable as children get older and can easily be styled with different furniture, bedding and décor over time.

Baby Room or Nursery

Nursery wallpaper can create a gentle and welcoming environment through soft colours, animal illustrations, nature scenes or playful patterns. Material choice is particularly important in children’s spaces. Hello Circus wallpaper is printed with VOC-free inks and uses PVC-free paper, offering an option for parents who prefer lower-emission materials in bedrooms and nurseries.

Bomb Shelter

Bomb shelter doors are a distinctive feature in many Singapore HDB flats, but their industrial appearance may not suit the surrounding interior. Wallpaper can help visually integrate the door and adjacent wall with the entryway, dining area or living space. Repeating patterns are particularly useful because they can create continuity across the surface and make the bomb shelter feel like part of the overall design rather than a separate utility feature. TV Wall

A TV wall is another popular area for wallpaper because it naturally acts as a focal point in the living room. A mural or large-scale pattern can frame the television, soften the appearance of electronic equipment and give the wall more visual depth. For a balanced result, choose a design that complements the TV console, lighting and surrounding furniture without making the screen difficult to view.

How to Choose the Best Wallpaper Style and Colour for Your Singapore Home

With so many wallpaper designs available today, choosing the right one can feel overwhelming. Beyond finding a design you love, it's worth considering how different wallpaper styles and colours can influence the way your home looks and feels. Whether you're decorating a compact HDB flat, a modern condominium, or a spacious landed property, selecting the right combination of mural or patterned wallpaper, along with light or dark tones, can help you create a space that feels brighter, more inviting, and perfectly suited to your lifestyle.

Should You Choose Mural Wallpaper or Pattern Wallpaper?

Choose Mural Wallpaper for a Statement Wall

Mural wallpaper features one continuous artwork that spans the entire wall, making it an excellent choice for creating a striking focal point. In Singapore homes, murals are commonly used behind the bed, sofa, dining table, or home office desk to introduce depth and personality without adding extra furniture or décor. Scenic landscapes, botanical artwork, abstract designs, and artistic illustrations can make even compact HDB flats and condominiums feel more spacious by drawing the eye across the room.

Whether you prefer geometric, striped, floral, or contemporary motifs, repeating patterns introduce texture and visual interest without overwhelming the space. Pattern wallpaper remains a favourite for bedrooms, nurseries, studies, hallways, and living rooms where a balanced, versatile design is desired.

Should You Choose Light or Dark Wallpaper?

Light-coloured wallpaper is one of the most popular choices for Singapore homes because it reflects natural light and helps compact spaces feel brighter and more open. Shades such as white, cream, beige, blush, and soft grey create a welcoming atmosphere while complementing Scandinavian, Japandi, minimalist, and contemporary interiors. Light wallpaper is especially suitable for HDB flats and condominiums where maximising brightness is often a design priority.

Are Wallpapers Suitable for Singapore's Warm and Humid Climate?

Yes — high-quality wallpapers are well suited to Singapore's warm and humid climate when installed on properly prepared walls. Modern wallpaper materials are designed to withstand everyday living, and when paired with good ventilation and a dry, stable surface, they can remain beautiful for many years.

The best wallpaper material depends on where it will be installed and how the room is used. Whether you're decorating a cosy bedroom, a busy family kitchen, a commercial office, or a rental apartment, choosing the right material helps ensure long-lasting performance and easy maintenance.

Which Wallpaper Material Is Best for Singapore Homes?

Non-Woven Matte Wallpaper

Our staple non-woven matte wallpaper is the most popular choice for residential homes in Singapore. Made from long wood fibres bonded together through heat treatment, this premium fabric-like material is both durable and breathable while providing a smooth, matte finish with minimal light reflection. An additional heavy-metal-free protective varnish improves washability and scrub resistance, making it ideal for everyday living.

Non-woven matte wallpaper is perfect for bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, nurseries, and home offices where you want an elegant finish that complements both modern and classic interiors.

  • PVC-free and environmentally friendly
  • Printed with GreenGuard Gold Certified inks
  • Matte, low-reflection finish
  • UV resistant for lasting colour
  • Dry removable for easier replacement
  • Excellent choice for most residential spaces

Heavy Duty Textured Vinyl Wallpaper

For areas exposed to higher moisture or heavier daily use, our Heavy Duty Textured Vinyl wallpaper provides additional durability and protection. Featuring a linen emboss finish, this premium material is more resistant to moisture and frequent cleaning, making it an excellent choice for kitchens and bathrooms.

Its antimicrobial treatment, highly washable surface, and enhanced scrub resistance make it particularly suitable for Singapore homes and commercial spaces where practicality is just as important as design.

  • Recommended for high-moisture areas such as kitchens and bathrooms
  • Ideal for high-traffic commercial spaces
  • Textured linen emboss finish
  • Highly washable with excellent scrub resistance
  • Treated with antimicrobial protection
  • Printed with GreenGuard Gold Certified inks
  • UV resistant and dry removable

Peel and Stick Wallpaper

Our Peel & Stick wallpaper offers the same made-to-measure approach in a premium self-adhesive material that requires no wallpaper paste during installation. It's an excellent option for DIY enthusiasts, rental homes, retail displays, pop-up stores, and short-term commercial installations where greater flexibility is preferred.

Despite its convenient installation, Peel & Stick wallpaper remains durable, wipeable, and resistant to everyday wear, making it suitable for many residential applications while allowing you to refresh your interior more easily in the future.

  • No paste required for installation
  • Perfect for DIY installation
  • Suitable for rental homes and temporary spaces
  • PVC-free and environmentally friendly
  • Printed with GreenGuard Gold Certified inks
  • Satin-matte, low-reflection finish
  • UV resistant and wipeable surface

Which Wallpaper Material Should You Choose?

If you're decorating bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, or other everyday spaces, our Non-Woven Matte wallpaper is the ideal all-round choice thanks to its elegant appearance, durability, and easy maintenance. For kitchens, bathrooms, or spaces where moisture and heavy traffic are greater concerns, Heavy Duty Textured Vinyl offers enhanced durability and washability. If you prefer a paste-free installation or are decorating a rental property, Peel & Stick wallpaper provides a flexible and convenient alternative.

Whichever material you choose, proper wall preparation and installation remain the most important factors in achieving a long-lasting finish. With the right material and suitable installation conditions, wallpaper is an excellent choice for homes and commercial spaces throughout Singapore.

How Do You Calculate How Much Wallpaper You Need?

To calculate the required wallpaper size, measure the full width and height of the wall. Adding approximately 10 centimetres to the measurements provides an allowance for trimming and minor wall irregularities.

  1. Measure the wall width from one edge to the other.
  2. Measure the wall height from floor to ceiling.
  3. Add approximately 10 centimetres for trimming and adjustment.
  4. Enter the final measurements into the wallpaper visualiser.

Measure each wall separately when covering more than one surface. Doors, windows, sloping ceilings and unusual wall shapes may require additional guidance.
